How to hack Apache

Post by ElectroPlasma on Sat Nov 12, 2011 11:24 am
([msg=62899]see How to hack Apache[/msg])

This is the IP addy of a guy who was spamming a forum I help moderate (actually I'm pretty much the only mod). Now, I'm not saying I'm ACTUALLY going to harm his system of course, but I checked out his IP addy with my browser and with a port scanner (Nmap/Zenmap), and it got me curious as to whether there was a way to do anything to a server like this, which seems to have basically nothing on it - like it was just brought online or something. Here is the IP: Removed

Any ideas how I might go about this thing?

lol if he's just spamming then block him, anything beyond that is probably illegal.

For the OP, be careful using nmap outside of a local network.

I KNOW it would be illegal to hack him. Like I said, I don't plan to. Just seeing his setup got me curious as to what I might do *IF* I wanted to hack him. I repeat, I am *NOT* going to. I'm only trying to learn.

And, LoGiCaL__ - why? I mean, I know port scanning isn't very friendly (after some stuff I read today I'm definitely going to tone down my usage of Nmap), but what's so much worse about using it outside of the LAN? It's not technically illegal to scan - "look but don't touch" kind of thing.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see what you're saying - use it only on your own network, not on the internet. Like a home network or business or whatever.

Some ISP's will mess with you if they notice it and you don't have a contract from the "destination" or company to prove that it is legit and you had permission.

I think I know that IP. You will walk into a honeytrap if you do something. Just warning you.
