Someone is probably tapping into the line... or you did the speed test when a ton of people were on... do you have dsl or just cable internet?

If you have 6mb internet, that doesn't mean your download speeds are going to be 6mbps.. 744kpbs is pretty good for 6mb. your upload is likely to be crap and will more than likely always be about half or less of your download speeds.

Hey nines i Understand what you said about speed and all.But i just wanted to ask how did you calculated that 744 kb.Is there any particular rule about that.or you just directly know that.when i checked mine it showed 100 mbs.But the download speed is 35 kbps..its that ok or i am wrong.please explain..

You guys need to either use full words or properly use MB and Mb.

MB = Megabyte.

Mb = Megabit.

Cable companies sell Mb access. This means that for a line of 6Mb your max speed would be 0.75MB which is likely what you were seeing when you saw the 744K.

On the other hand, if you're saying it's slower than it should be that could either be due to the upload speeds of whomever your downloading from or because there were a lot of users on.

My line is 8Mbps. I get nearly 1MB/s on good days. .900+ from usenet.

Hope that answered your question.

Edit: Just realized this topic was old. *sigh*
