You're assuming port 80 for http? I was just wondering is it because he could only be hosting an ftp server instead? Is there something I don't know, like other ports for http or browser access. I think I need a port chart taped to my laptop.

not 100÷100 sure about the question. I think it's safe to say that most of the time ppl run a lamp stack which includes a for apache which defaults to port 80. both of these variables can be changed. I don't *have* to install a http server and don't *have* to run it on port 80. I can do whatever I want. on the same thread of discussion, @goatboy, good point. I'll weigh up the risk/complexity and consider it
