IRC Mission 9

Ok, this one is dead cryptic - we're told that all the scripts are 'fixed', but presumably the idea is that one is still left with exploits?

We're not told what we have to actually DO - are we supposed to disconnect the bot?

Also, is the fact that !read and !write now don't work part of the mission (maybe a hint), or is it just a bug?

you have to trick moo into saying something that, if said, will cause the server to kick you.

Hint: Google some bots.

Even bigger hint (I think):
Look at the default config file for the IRCD

Could someone please give me a nudge? This mission is giving me a wrinkle :(

I've poured over all the confs and set up a local ircd to make sure I understood it all.

Am I walking on the right track here? I need to get moo to say something that will cause the Super to kick her when it sees it in the main registered chatwindow?

I tried all the examples given in the default confs. So I assume it's not set to defaults any more for the HTS live server. The only way I can think of to get the new lists is by messaging Botserv or doing a /stats command but I just get an access denied response.

Am I supposed to pull these confs off the server somehow? Am I flogging a dead horse? Why did Jack Klughman keep making episodes of Quincy when he was so ill? Just made it uncomfortable to watch...

Please help

You're on the right track. You don't need to get the conf files of the server, just get a sample. Use the hint above your post ;)

Hey MSGM , thanks for replying.

That's the daemons version that I'm running locally I mean. So I have all the default examples. I've got moo so say some eye watering shit in that room but nothing seems to give. Seems she can get away it all 'til her black little heart is content.

What could I be overlooking?

I've found a way to get the text to invert ( in xchat at least ). Is that relevant at all?

Don't over think this, it's not that complicated. What doesn't boot "yoo" won't boot moo.

Thankye, mojo1948

I get the feeling I'm really going to kick m'self when I get that reference.

I need to sleep on this and check back over those confs again I guess. There must be like one big thing I haven't tried but can I find it? Meh...

۩ↂↂↂↂↂↂ۩ [[ EDIT ]] ۩ↂↂↂↂↂↂ۩

Heh got it! There was one big, simple thing left that I hadn't tried. Doh! Thanks guys :)

Btw, that text thing I was talking about... _It's completely unrelated_ but you might want to take a look before you complete this mission while you still have !decode and !encode. Just add zw(uoohYg to your !decode string

!encode This text is reversed

!decode zw(uoohYg VGhpcyB0ZXh0IGlzIHJldmVyc2Vk

Apparently it's inserting the reverse code (ascii 22) and continuing on with the string. I don't understand _why_ it's continuing to decode the second part. Shouldn't it add the encrypted message to the first part of the string and simply output gibberish? I've found the colour code and the bell code as well :p

Why is this happening?

...still don't get the whole Quincey thing.
