Re: Testcase WiFi signal Interference

I think first off, you need to decide if there is actually any interference at all. Customers will bitch about everything, how are you sure that 2.4GHz interference is the problem? Once you are sure there is interference causing service disruptions for the routers, consider all possible sources of i...

Re: Noob asks for advice

Learn HTML, JavaScript, PHP + MySQL and then make a website with simple features. For example: make a simple blog. Then, learn about SQL injection and other common exploits (think OWASP top 10). Code more features onto your site that are vulnerable to these top 10, then fix them, then try and attac...

Re: Backdoors vs Port Forwarding

You're correct. Like goatboy said, DMZ mode will send all unassigned traffic to a specific computer. There exists an alternative known as a reverse shell, in which the attacker has a properly opened port on his machine and instructs the victim to connect to him, once the connection is achieved, it b...

Re: Impunity?

At the very least, you'd probably be in violation of your ISP's Terms of Service. I am not a lawyer, however, I believe what you describe is prohibited by the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986. See http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/1030#a_6 for more information. The government won't give ...

Re: python code help (if else statements)

I don't really understand why you're having trouble. Your code works fine, you just need to add another statement in your else clauses, it has nothing to do with structure. I don't use Python so I may be straying from typical coding convention, but I believe this is what you're trying to achieve: fr...

Re: How to install Xubuntu?

Lastly: did you check the hashes of the downloaded ISO, checked that the file is not corrupted? I agree with this, there are not many reasons why VirtualBox could not read an ISO other than the ISO being corrupted. You can find the checksum files for Xubuntu 13.10 here: Xubuntu 13.10 Release Mirror .

Re: BitCoin - Is this a bubble?

I can assure you your friends are losing money if they are mining Bitcoin, the only chance they have to be profitable is through mining whatever happens to be the most profitable altcoin. Suposidly the past week there have been a few crackers playing around with the transactions of bitcoins and caus...

Re: Check someone's mesg status without write?

That won't work in the way you hope. If you look back up to the terminal snippet I posted, you'll see that group only has write permissions, not read. Even if you were able to get read permissions on the other users TTY, you wouldn't be able to intercept their keystrokes with cat as it is blocking. ...

Re: Check someone's mesg status without write?

I've never used or even heard of mesg until I read the man page. So this may or may not be entirely accurate. I believe this is possible by checking file permissions of the specific tty the user is using. I ran `strace mesg` to see what file mesg was checking to determine write ability. For referenc...

Re: Looking for good teacher plz?

No one is going to spoon feed you. There is this awesome website called Google where you can type anything you want to learn, and it will give you relevant information! /smartass Seriously though, yes, what you are wanting to do is usually accomplished with a botnet, hence the "distributed"...
