Re: What does an IP tell you?

An ip address could tell you which ISP was used to make the connection to wherever you got the IP address from. It could do nothing more. Now you might be able to determine where the ISP is located and the ISP might keep records of who used used what IP - but that is not the IP telling you anything.

Re: Did you go to school to learn what you know about computers?

Most of what I know about programming or general stuff is self taught.

The discipline of formal education (namely college) helped a lot though.

Re: college?

If you want to go into game engine design a degree in Computer Science and a degree (minor or major) in Physics will help.

Re: A story issue..

Anything real world is going to be boring (usually). There is a reason Hacker movies don't show a real exploit.
Code: Select all
[mo@moms ~]$ ./vt.sh

Does not look very interesting to anyone (including myself).

Re: Linux versions of Application challenges

The first Application challenge is available for Unix, although it doesn't run on my system (file says it's FreeBSD ELF (doesn't BSD still use a.out?)). no Is there any chance the rest could be compiled for Linux? When I figure out how to cross compile I managed to extract the password from 1 using...
