Re: Tyranny of the majority

Legitimate uses Not all uses of tu quoque arguments involve logical fallacy. They can be properly used to bring about awareness of inconsistency, to indirectly repeal a criticism by narrowing its scope or challenging its criteria, or to call into question the credibility of a source of knowledge. --...

Re: helping a newbie?

It would be better if you had a specific question, if you don't even know what to start asking questions about try reading through some of the articles on HTS.

Re: Tyranny of the majority

Short answer for me is that the government doesn't follow it's own laws, why should we feel compelled to.

Re: Do you guys/girls beleve in god?

Arguing faith based questions is something of a futile exercise. The foundation of faith is believing in the unprovable. So there is no proof available for the existence of God. While some point to "miracles" of people living through unlivable events, or good things happening, The same God...

Re: Understanding Cryptography

I agree that the all caps are a bit excessive, and just saying help me isn't a good way to get people interested in discussing things. A good place to start on the mathematics side is linear algebra, learn what linear transformations are, and how to manipulate matrices.

Re: Math proof

The problem is that you are not being consistent with what you're doing with the equation. If you subtract x from the left side you have to subtract x from the right side. so the equation would have to look like 10x - x = 9.9 - x, or 10x - .9 = 9 - .9. Even though x = .9 you can't interchange the tw...

Re: Do you guys/girls beleve in god?

I believe in the possibility of a God, but i think modern religions have it so screwed up that it's hard to sort though it all. That and I've never met anyone who had believable first hand knowledge.
