Is it just me or does the null byte not work?

After hours of figuring this mission out, I felt that something is wrong with this mission. So I searched online for answer only to find that what I was doing was the same as them. Which means either the method has changed or the mission doesn't work. I hope the admins fix this. Lol, its been 12-13 ...
