I am not expert on this topic but from little experience I do have I think they are very similar. So much that in my class teacher always said we are learning C/C++.

However I recommend when you learn it you stick with one of them for beginning,

I am afraid that trying to infect others, even scammers is illegal in most countries. Perhaps it's less likely you will get sued but do keep in mind scammers could be spoofing emails, you could infect innocent user while trying to infect scammers. Intentionally wasting their time is perfectly legal ...
